HELLO my fellow gamers! Today I will be discussing a game that isn’t new…at all…what so ever. MINECRAFT, such an iconic game and became so popular so quick. The game was created by four people, Markus “Notch” Persson, Jens Berensten, Kristoffer Zetterstrand, and Julian Gough, in Sweden with their company titled Mojang.

ALRIGHT, so what about Minecraft? What is soooooooooo amazing about this game? Could it be the simply, yet extremely, creative possibilities of the game? The freedom of the game which allows you to do literally anything and build whatever you want? Or maybe it’s the cute, box like graphics that is visually please?

I believe it is all of them, all these reason and more! Minecraft has become such an important figure in the gaming history. It has started a new trend of crafting/survival games. It’s one of those “why didn’t I think of it” moments. Allow me to enlighten you in why I think this game, is just so amazing. Not just in the sense of gaming but what this game has done for us gamers. What doors this game has opened for us.

Minecraft is such an organic game. It is so free and open that you could spend hours just build random stuff, like legos! This was one of the first few games I ever played where I didn’t get bored as quickly, which was actually extremely surprising… and once you get your friends on board, its over. You will spend hours trying to kill each other with pickaxes and enjoy ever second of it. This game created a new form of co-op game play. Where it isn’t about just killing the next boss, but rather working together to build something from the bottom up. From nothing to something. So in that sense Minecraft helped create a new platform of co-op gamers. I mean i’m sure there were games way before Minecraft about working together, but I feel it wasn’t until Minecraft took off that this genre of gaming was truly noticed. Minecraft is more than a game, it has become a whole new medium for expression, for creation. I mean honestly look at what these people can built in Minecraft!

Visual it looks amazing. It’s the fact that you can build anything you want that makes this game so perfect. And another great thing about this game is that the creators targeted a specific type of audience. And that was it! They didn’t try to make a game that would be amazing in more then one genre, or please every gamer. Because lets be honest, there is no game that will please every gamer. But because they knew that, because they made this game designed for one type of audience. They were able to perfect it. They were able to create a building/crafting game that was so organic and fluid that it pleased the entire audience of that genre.

What I mean by organic and fluid is this. This game has mods, this game has texture packs, this game allows the player to alter the game however they want. They want more bombs, done. They want more animals, done. The creators of Minecraft took the aspect of “Customize” to a whole new level by doing nothing new, compared to other games honestly. But they put a crap done of effort into it, and it shows. The game is organic is the sense it will always adapt to the gamers. It is always growing, constantly changing without losing the ability to go back. The game it self started off simple, one texture pack, some crafting, then it blew off. And people started to build mods, texture packs, even adventure mode! Challenge mode! Etc. You name it, and it can be done. This game is so good not because of how popular it is, or how amazingly the visuals can be. No, this game is amazing because it was created for the players. And eventually this game became apart of the players, where they themselves began to make content for the game. At the end this game slowly became a community game where people were building it together. And it grew strong like that.

Aside from all that though, this game seriously some artists in it. I love this picture because it just makes me laugh. This guy used a bit game to create an 8-bit image.
